Blog

Not Dead (yet)

Wow, it’s been ages since I’ve updated the blog here. Been quite busy with school as I get closer and closer to graduation. Not a lot of time spent scouring the web for things these days. I am excited about the Fall 2011 issue of Portfolio Magazine that my school puts out. The production of the magazine is based around a class where we pitch a concept to the instructor, the student who’s concept gets chosen becomes the art director and chooses a team to help execute the magazine. All of the content and design is done by the team. So my concept got chosen and I’ve been sweating over this thing all quarter. Hopefully it will be done printing about a month from now. I’m really proud of all the work my team has put into it. I will post the pages as soon as its printed.

Been working on some branding for a freelance client also, will probably post those up once we’re all finished.

As soon as I get some free time I plan on revamping the website and ironing out my branding–in preparation for my portfolio show in the winter 2012 quarter.

Until then, cheers.

Ethics Poster

Silly poster I made for my Ethics class. Yeah gonna put it in the book, cos I can.

Illustrated Type Exhibit at Gallery Nucleus • May 14th

Ahh! I’m pretty excited about this show. Jessica Hische’s work will be displayed at Nucleus yet again plus some work from Studio On Fire but the list of contributors is staggering really–I’m excited to see work from artists/designers I haven’t heard of yet. Lets nerd out and appreciate some letterforms.

Gallery Nucleus is pleased to present an exhibit celebrating hand drawn letterforms and experimental typography. Parallel to increasingly computer-driven imagery, it is both refreshing and encouraging to see the resurgence of working by hand—as well as an expanding community that finds value in this practice.

We have invited nearly 30 illustrators, graphic designers, sculptors, printmakers, and painters to interpret the alphabet, and are thrilled to showcase work at which art and design intersect. This collection explores how typography (even when reduced to a single letterform!) can be whimsical and bizarre, innovative and thought-provoking, and most importantly, downright fun!

Peeta

I don’t normally respond street art and graffiti work since I haven’t really paid a lot of attention to it but saw this on a blog and really liked it. Peeta’s abstract pieces almost resemble sculptures in the spaces they’re in. I also really like his consideration of color and how it works with the environment as well as somewhat interacting with it. Coincidentally he also does sculptures in the same non-objective style which can be found on his website. Peeta is a graffiti artist based out of Italy. More work can be seen at: www.peeta.net

New Layout!

So I’ve been pretty busy lately with school and this internship I’ve had for the past 4-5 months now. This somewhat explains the stagnant situation with the blog. However this quarter I wanted to make an effort to redesign my entire site, so here it is. I hope you enjoy it.

Adam Hill

Just a fraction of the amazing work of Adam Hill of Velcro Suit. This is just one gallery of posters among the rest of his work at Velcro Suit, I suggest you check out the site and the rest of his work.

Stephen Shore

Some photographs from Stephen Shore that I enjoy.
