Lo Wedding RSVP
Personal
I was fortunate enough to use some of my design services for a long-time friend of mine Justin and his fiancée Angelica. I was happy to oblige as they had a limited budget and some specific themes they wanted to match the themes they would be exploring for the reception.
The main inspiration for the reception was based around Disney’s Haunted Mansion, as the couple were fond of aesthetics that were a bit dark Victorian or leaning on the side of gothic.
I was initially set on developing a custom typeface based on the Haunted Mansion’s own typeface, but thought it better to modify the original to maintain familiarity. Understanding the couples penchant for dark Victorian aesthetics, I sought Victorian style flourishes to introduce into the masthead and into patterns of the design.
While I did not opt for a classically “Victorian” typeface, I opted for a more classical serif typeface that would lend itself more to legibility. Also opted for a more “modern” typeset to create hierarchy among the important details of the invite.

About
Hello! I'm Tom. I've been a professional designer for just about 10 years now and have always felt an affinity for problem solving. I believe designing thoughtful solutions begins with a deep understanding of three things: the problem, the user or audience and desired outcome.
When I'm not working I enjoy moonlighting as a photographer, camping, playing video games and occasionally making noises on my guitar.
