PlayStation™Now
Visual Design, UI Design
During my six years with Sony Interactive Entertainment, one of my larger projects involved taking on the role of Lead Visual Designer for PlayStation™Now as we were approaching version 2.0 of our client.
This role would involve leading the visual design overhaul of the console client, along with a number of additional features that were slated to launch with version 2.0 of our app.
From a visual design standpoint, I felt our visual design should showcase our content as the primary visual elements in the UI. This was done in order to imply a sense of immersion within the app and to invite the user to play rather than buy like a storefront might (PlayStation™Now is a subscription service much like Netflix).
It was important to make the UI of the app itself relatively neutral, while still bringing in branding elements from the greater PlayStation™ brand: typefaces, accent colors, iconography, etc. This neutral approach would allow content to be pushed forward but also give us more scalability to other platforms, outside of the console.

About
Hello! I'm Tom. I've been a professional designer for just about 10 years now and have always felt an affinity for problem solving. I believe designing thoughtful solutions begins with a deep understanding of three things: the problem, the user or audience and desired outcome.
When I'm not working I enjoy moonlighting as a photographer, camping, playing video games and occasionally making noises on my guitar.
